EUROPE UNCHANGED FOR WEBER CUP XIX

EUROPE UNCHANGED FOR WEBER CUP XIX

March 21st, 2018

Team Europe will be aiming for an unprecedented sixth consecutive Weber Cup title this summer as Dominic Barrett leads his unchanged side to battle with USA at Arena MK, Milton Keynes from June 15-17, with tickets on sale Wednesday, March 28.

Captain Barrett will again be joined by fellow Englishman Stuart Williams and Swedish pair Martin Larsen and Jesper Svensson. Between them the quartet have won 21 Weber Cups and are relishing the opportunity to advance that number this year.

“I’m really pleased with our team,” said Barrett, who recently won his sixth PBA title at the DHC Japan Invitational. “We’ve shown individually throughout the year we can have success, but as a team we take it up a level.

“The Weber Cup is different to any other event we compete in. One lane, the team atmosphere, competing for our continent – it really is the best team event we have and we look forward to it all year.”

Williams, who has won the Weber Cup six times, added: “We are very excited that we get to keep our team the same from the last two years. I think the secret to our success has been continuity and how close we all are.

“The crowd at the Weber Cup is always special and we love the fact that when we get on the lane 95% of the crowd wants us to win – I’m not sure I want to be on the other side of that.”

Svensson, who returns for his third Weber Cup appearance concluded: “It feels amazing to be back in England to represent Team Europe again and to do it with the same team as last year feels like a confirmation that we have done something right. It’s going to be a great time together with family and friends in England.

“Whoever USA send to England they are going to have a hard time beating us, the trophy is going to stay where it belongs.”

Tickets for Weber Cup XIX will go on sale at midday on Wednesday, March 28 at www.webercup.com or by calling 0844 581 0888. Tickets are priced from just £11 per session or £42 for a season ticket, with concession rates available. A family season ticket can be purchased for just £99.
